Worlds View of The Relationship With Technology
Kenzie Van Cleef
Throughout the years technology has had a big impact on society as a whole. Including examples such as all new models of electronics that get sent out each year, different models of cars, and our generation vs. our parents, etc.Back then each and every one of our parents did not have technology, no Ai apps, regular phones, or anything revolving the technology we have today. When we go back to when the first working mobile phone came out it was put out into the public on August 3rd, 1973. This took place and was located in New York City.
What ways did blogging and social media platforms act as so-called “disruptive technologies?
A disruptive technology is in other words an innovation that creates established industries and models for business while completely transforming markets and old industries. It significantly changes the way businesses, industries, or consumers operate.
Just like anything else there are plenty of ups and downs to technology. The main focus being why blogging and social media platforms are discussed as disruptive is the rapid sharing of information. It changes communication and the way we communicate. We have always relied on the media and new reporters, but now that people are blogging they too can voice their own opinions and get their points across. A majority of people are going to believe what they want to see.
Bloggers over time gain a huge amount of followers whether they agree with the them or not. Once the blogger has gained a larger connection of followers, those followers will then share their posts and so on. Sharing posts boosts usually boosts a bloggers page but do you know are you getting the actual facts or someone’s opinion? Blogging can create problems by misinformations, spreading rumors.
False information can then lead to false opinions, causing more of a frenzy. Blogging can have two sides, one that is great information, new friendships, world news, , that teach us how the rest of the world lives, political views. The other side does the opposite, information on wars, destruction of communities when a hurricane hits, view of hatred towards a political party where it tries to sway peoples political opinion.
It often leads people to express their opinions which then can spark a nasty argument between two or more people. Blogging doesn’t always show the whole side of one’s story. So it has its good and its bad . The curiosity of the human race has found the open door to the good or the bad.
Social media offers a huge range of connectivity. But it also changes our perceptions. It pulls us into so many directions that we tend to get lost. We have been on our tablets for decades now, whether it’s our cell phones or laptops we are more connected than ever and linked to the virtual reality.
Social media makes everything shiny and spectacular. It’s where we share our great news and accomplishments, our best pictures our own opinions, half the time many feel alone. We compare, we judge, we create self esteem issues within ourselves. Do we blog because it’s a fantasy of whatever everyone wants to see or believe in what they read.? The virtual world gives people a chance to exaggerate and slightly distort the reality. We need to balance between what is real compared to what is not real. Can we ever find a balance? I think it depends on how we navigate our time online.
